This web site has been designed to a screen resolution of 1024 x 768. It is therefore best viewed at that resolution.

What is Screen Resolution?

When you buy a computer the monitor has been pre-set to a certain resolution, which means how much information will fit on your screen. Even though 1024 x 768 is the most common, and the most popular screen resolution, your monitor may not necessarily be set to that resolution.

This means that if you watch this web site at a different resolution all the paintings might be either too small on the screen, making it impossible to see the details, or too large so you have to scroll to see the full painting.

As mentioned, we have designed the site to a screen resolution of 1024 x 768, so all the paintings will fill your screen, and you don’t have to scroll to see the full painting.

In any Windows operating system (for instance Windows XP) you can very easily change the screen resolution to whatever you want it to be. If you want to view this page the best possible way you just re-set your monitor’s resolution to 1024 x 768. If you then later want to go back to your old resolution, which is very easy, follow the below instructions. Chances are that your screen is already set to the 1024 x 768 resolution, but it’s not a bad idea to check it anyway so you know in the future.

We suggest that you print out this page before you start changing your monitor’s resolution because you will need to go into a different screen, and it is a good idea to have this page handy so you can follow the instructions.

Here is how you check, and change, your screen resolution in Windows.

1.      Point your mouse cursor on your Desktop (in a spot where there are no icons) and right-click on the mouse, then choose “Properties” on the menu that appears, normally at the bottom of the box.

2.      Left-click on the “Settings” tab at the top of the screen that pops up.

3.      Look for the little slide tab in the “Screen Resolution” area, normally at the bottom left of the box.

4.      Write down the resolution it says in case you want to go back to that one later on. If the resolution listed is 1024 x 768 you do not need to do anything. Your monitor has the right resolution, so just click OK, and close down the box. If it does not say 1024 x 768 then continue from point 5 in these instructions.

5.      Left-click on the tab and slide it to the left or right (Less or More) to select 1024 x 768, then click OK, and click OK again in the pop-up box.

6.      The screen will now go black while your screen re-adjusts itself. That’s normal and will only last for a couple of seconds.

7.      When the screen starts up again it will ask you if you want to keep the setting. Click Yes.

8.      That is all there is to it.

9.      If you have now set your screen to 1024 x 768 then click here to go back to the painting Home Page and enjoy viewing the paintings at the correct resolution.

10.  If you later want to go back to your previous screen resolution then follow the above steps (from Step 1), and slide the tab to the left or right (Less or More) to whatever resolution you want to go back to, then click OK, and click OK again in the pop-up box.
